THE MUDHOUSE
Clusters of traditional but contemporary huts scatter across 60 acres of pristine forest land. Designs range from traditional village houses to a tree house, all constructed with natural materials sourced locally, such as wattle and daub and thatching. Each structure is designed with comfort and relaxation in mind. Whilst all the layouts differ, the facilities are essentially the same: all the huts have outdoor showers and indoor sinks and western toilets, designed in a style that befits the overall aesthetic and back-to-nature theme. There is an adjacent lake which is great for swimming and bathing. All huts have dining areas and spaces which can be used for yoga and meditation.
THE DUTCH HOUSE
Built in 1712, this historic mansion is full of Dutch-era antiques, has an English tropical garden complete with a croquet lawn and a treetop infinity pool. The Dutch House has 4 luxury suites that perfectly combine grandeur and comfort. Each bedroom is air conditioned with mosquito-net-draped 4 poster beds, luxurious silk drapes, cool polished concrete floors and stunning soft furnishings.
THE FRANGIPANI TREE
Located on a long stretch of secluded and picturesque beach, the Frangipani Tree is a stylish beach ‘sanctuary’ with 3 villas which house 9 exquisitely furnished suites. The suites are named after local turtles found on the beach, and each has stunning ocean views, modern, elegant custom furnishings, high quality linens, four-poster beds, contemporary bathrooms and covered verandahs with sun beds and private dining tables.
THE SUN HOUSE
Once the home of a Scottish spice merchant, this white-washed colonial house built in the 1860’s has been converted into a small luxury hotel with 7 highly individual bedrooms and an eclectic assortment of artwork, books and furniture. There are two beautiful tropical gardens; the frangipani garden, leading to the swimming pool, and the mango garden which has stunning views of Galle harbour.
